We have seen in a new year! So exciting. To add to the excitement, Mars entered Aries, its natal sign, on New Year's Eve. This means we are starting the year off headstrong. Included in this energy is drive, emergencies, and potential fights. We fight for a few reasons. First, it gets our blood pumping. Aries rules the blood. We need to initiate. Initiation is intrinsic to Aries, a Cardinal sign*. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and as such, he wants to get on with things. He is impatient, headstrong, and can be abrasive. We take on this energy as Mars embodies it.
Given that Mars went into Aries at midnight 2019, we are sure to accomplish a lot this year. Mars entered Aries, and Uranus about to turn direct at the time of New Years 2019 in Aries, and this writing, we are not done with the #metoo dynamic. Also, male aggression and violence is ramped up. Uranus exiting on March 7th gives him just over 2 months to get his shift on. The shift is acknowledging male energy needs to transform. It is a concentration of the male ego drive. We are seeing a raw concentration of it in society, and acting on it in our lives. As the month proceeds, all the Capricorn planets are triggered. Currently, we have Mercury, Sun, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn. Depending on your Rising Sign, it can affect us individually in any area. Whatever theme we have been feeling put-upon regarding responsibility for others, i.e. home, career, health, children, etc. , that's where we will be have a peak battle now. We may act out and say what's truly on our minds, as Jupiter is now in blunt Sagittarius.
Venus finishes up her time in Scorpio, none too soon for this Scorpio rising, in on Monday, January 7th. End degrees of Scorpio are in negative aspect (150° - inconjunct) to Uranus. This is a peak war aspect, as seen by the political standoff over the "wall" and government shutdown. Shifts happening soon with Venus and Uranus help move the energy forward. Uranus forward is a humanitarian energy, so society drives the story after the 6h. Moon enters his sign, Aquarius, the same day. Cries of the people will drive the end of the shutdown.
January 20th sees a Full Moon in Leo eclipse, with a square of Venus to Neptune. This is a women and children aspect, seeing a foreign connection (immigrants-Sag) to women (Venus) and children (Sagittarius). At this writing, an un"ladylike" display by new Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib on the day of her inauguration is a focused example of this energy. More to follow!
January 23rd brings a shift of Mercury into Aquarius. Thoughts about what is best for the people, and detachment from emotion culminate in an ideological shift to our new Age of Aquarius energy, at least for a small amount of time. We are open to new ideas, and tech advances. Chaos is a symptom of the quantum way of thinking Aquarius brings to our thoughts. Multiplicity is a descriptive word to engage our ideas. We feel clearer, and more powerful. Joining our "people" empowers us. As wraps up his stay in Aquarius mid-February, his ruler is at the bitter end of Aries, conjunct Uranus. Look for an epic battle of the people this Winter. This is about ethics, humanitarianism, and an initiating nod to the upcoming Saturn shift into Aquarius in 2020.
Even though Neptune falls in positive sextile (60°) to Saturn on the 31st, creating cozy security around emotions, it will be a short-lived energy, as Mars squares Pluto on the first, and can create a war, of ideas, or actually. We can see these energies build simultaneously. Ideology (Neptune), and patriarchal structures (Saturn) side together, creating a resistance to ideas and change. Mars (men, drive) wants its way, but cannot have it, creating tantrums. Pluto is close to the Neptune sextile, and this energy can favor everyone from an ideological standpoint. Our individual dreams fuel us, while others may try to derail them. The month ends with a Moon trine (positive aspect) to Uranus, before going void of course (not connecting to major planets before it changes signs. The people are looking to take action (Aries) connected to family and home made in foreign lands (Moon in Sagittarius).
